Who can apply

  • Indian nationals only.
  • Currently studying in Classes 1 to 12, a diploma, ITI or polytechnic course, or an undergraduate or postgraduate degree, at a private, government or government-aided institution in India.
  • At least 55% marks in the previous qualifying examination.
  • Annual family income from all sources of ₹2.5 lakh or less.
  • Diploma applicants must have joined the diploma after Class 12.

Preference goes to students who have faced a personal or family crisis in the last three years that has made it hard to pay for education and put them at risk of dropping out. A crisis is not compulsory; it only gives preference.

Selection

The official site describes a multi-stage process: shortlisting on the eligibility criteria, document verification, a personal interview for shortlisted candidates, and then the final list of scholars.

Points to check before you submit

  • Your marks in the last qualifying exam must be at least 55%; the form checks this.
  • Diploma students qualify only if they joined the diploma after Class 12. A diploma taken straight after Class 10 does not count for this programme.
  • The income proof must come from one of the listed authorities or be an affidavit; the family income from all sources must be ₹2.5 lakh or less.
  • If you are claiming crisis preference, upload one of the listed crisis documents. Without it, the application is treated as a normal merit-cum-need case.

Renewal

The programme FAQ says the scholarship is now available for multiple years to support current scholars. Renewal conditions are not spelt out on the site, so ask the helpline if you are selected.
