Respected Principal, teachers and my dear friends,
Today I stand before you to speak on a question that each one of us must answer — “What I can give for India ?” We often wait for the government to change the country. But a nation is built by its citizens, and change begins with me.
First, I can take care of the environment. I can refuse plastic bags, segregate my waste, keep my classroom and street clean and cycle or walk for short distances. Second, I can save every drop of water — closing taps, getting leaks repaired and reusing water for plants. Third, I can help maintain a green cover by planting saplings and protecting the trees of my locality, and by taking part in the school’s tree-planting drive every year.
Fourth, I can support each other : helping a weaker classmate, respecting girls and boys equally, and standing against bullying and discrimination. I can also give my time — teaching an under-privileged child, donating books, and spreading awareness about cleanliness and education.
If every student here gives only these few things, no power on earth can stop India from becoming a great nation.
Thank you. Jai Hind !
