A. A gain of 1%
B. A loss of 2%
C. No profit, no loss
D. A loss of 1%
Best answer
Answer: D. A loss of 1%
Answer: (D) A loss of 1%
Shortcut: when two items are sold at the same SP with x% gain and x% loss, there is always a loss of \(\frac{x^2}{100}\%\) = 1%.
Plain: CPs are 990 ÷ 1.1 = ₹900 and 990 ÷ 0.9 = ₹1100, total ₹2,000. SP total = ₹1,980, so a loss of ₹20 = 1%.
