Respected Chief Guest Ms. Malala Yousafzai, our honourable Principal, teachers, parents and my dear friends, a very good morning to all of you.

I am Sneha Kulkarni, the Head Girl of our school, and it is my proud privilege to welcome our guest of honour on this Children’s Day.

“One child, one teacher, one book and one pen can change the world.” These famous words were spoken by the young lady who is with us today.

Malala raised her voice for the right of girls to go to school at a time when it was dangerous to do so. She was attacked for her courage, but she refused to be silenced. Instead, she became a voice for millions of children around the world. In 2014 she was honoured with the Nobel Peace Prize along with our own Kailash Satyarthi, who proudly calls her “my daughter Malala”. Her work reminds us that education is the most powerful weapon against fear and violence, and that children themselves can bring about change.

Ma’am, your presence on Children’s Day is an inspiration to every student here, especially to the girls. We hope to learn from you the courage to stand up for what is right.

On behalf of the entire school, I once again extend a very warm welcome to you. Thank you.
