Best answer
Answer: 3. Alfred Hershey and Martha Chase
Key idea: Hershey and Chase (1952) gave the unequivocal proof that DNA is the genetic material.
They labelled bacteriophage DNA with \(\mathrm{^{32}P}\) and protein with \(\mathrm{^{35}S}\), and showed that only the radioactive DNA entered the bacteria. Griffith showed transformation, and Avery, MacLeod and McCarty showed DNA is the transforming principle, but their evidence was not accepted as unequivocal. Wilkins and Franklin did X-ray work.
