Distinguish between the meaning of the terms adsorption and absorption. Give one example of each.

Adsorption  Absorption
Substance is concentrated only at the surface and does notpcnctrate from the surface to the bulkofthe adsorbent. Substnce is uniformly distributed throughout the bulk of the solid. 
 It is a surface phenomenon. It is a bulk phenomenon.
Example: Silical gel absorbs water vapour on its surface. Example: Anhydrous CaCl, absorbs water vapours in it.
