Doubtly MCP Server: Use Doubtly Inside Claude, Cursor and VS Code

Many students already study with an AI assistant open in another tab. The problem is that a general assistant does not know your syllabus, your board's question style or which answers have been checked. It can sound confident and still be wrong. The Doubtly MCP server fixes that. It connects your assistant to Doubtly, so it can look things up in Doubtly's verified Maharashtra SSC (Class 10) content before it answers.

What is the Doubtly MCP server?

MCP stands for Model Context Protocol. It is an open standard that lets AI apps use outside tools and data in a safe, structured way. Think of it as a plug: an app that supports MCP can plug into any MCP server. Doubtly's server is at https://www.doubtly.in/mcp. Once connected, your assistant gets five read-only tools:

  • search_doubtly: searches solved Class 10 questions (textbook exercises, board-paper questions and student doubts with verified answers).
  • get_question: reads the full step-by-step solution, with the link to the Doubtly page.
  • find_practice: finds the chapter test, the full subject tests and previous board papers for a topic.
  • exam_dates: gives SSC board exam dates, timetable status and scholarship deadlines.
  • my_progress: reads your syllabus tracker: chapters done, weak chapters and what to study next.

The tools only read. Your assistant cannot post, change your account or see anything private apart from your own progress.

Why use it instead of a plain AI chat?

  • Answers grounded in checked solutions. The assistant reads the same verified answers you see on Doubtly and links the page, so you can check every step.
  • Your syllabus, not someone else's. Doubtly follows the Balbharati textbooks and the Maharashtra board pattern, so explanations match what your paper asks.
  • From doubt to practice in one step. Ask "explain Arithmetic Progression and give me a test" and the assistant links the right chapter test.
  • Your plan, in your assistant. Ask "what should I revise this week?" and it answers from your own tracker and test scores.

Who can use it?

The MCP server is a Doubtly Pro feature. Everything on the website stays free to read, including every question, answer, note and mock test. If you'd rather not set anything up, Doubtly Dost, our study assistant on the website, uses the same tools for Class 10 students.

How to connect it (2 minutes)

  1. Log in and open doubtly.in/mcp.
  2. Using ChatGPT or Claude? Skip the key: add the connector and sign in (below). For other apps, click Create my MCP key and copy it. Keep it private, like a password.
  3. Add the server to your app, using one of the setups below.

ChatGPT and Claude (sign in, no key)

In ChatGPT open Settings → Apps & Connectors and create a connector (developer mode). In Claude open Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector. Enter https://www.doubtly.in/mcp, choose OAuth, sign in to Doubtly and click Allow.

Claude Code

claude mcp add --transport http doubtly https://www.doubtly.in/mcp --header "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_MCP_KEY"

Cursor

Add this to ~/.cursor/mcp.json:

{"mcpServers": {"doubtly": {"url": "https://www.doubtly.in/mcp", "headers": {"Authorization": "Bearer YOUR_MCP_KEY"}}}}

VS Code

Add this to .vscode/mcp.json:

{"servers": {"doubtly": {"type": "http", "url": "https://www.doubtly.in/mcp", "headers": {"Authorization": "Bearer YOUR_MCP_KEY"}}}}

Claude Desktop

Claude Desktop connects through the small mcp-remote helper (it needs Node.js). Add this to claude_desktop_config.json:

{"mcpServers": {"doubtly": {"command": "npx", "args": ["-y", "mcp-remote", "https://www.doubtly.in/mcp", "--header", "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_MCP_KEY"]}}}

Good things to ask

  • "Use Doubtly to explain how to find the discriminant, then give me the chapter test."
  • "Search Doubtly for the March 2025 Algebra paper question on arithmetic progression and walk me through it."
  • "Check my Doubtly progress and make a 7-day revision plan for my weak chapters."
  • "When does the SSC 2027 exam start, and which scholarships close this month?"

Safety and privacy

Your key only works for your account. You can make a new key at any time, and the old one stops working at once. If your Pro membership ends, the key stops working too. The server never shares other students' data. It also follows the same rule as Doubtly Dost: it helps you learn, so use it to understand solutions rather than to copy answers during a live test.

Frequently asked questions

Is the MCP server free?

No, it is part of Doubtly Pro. The website, Doubtly Dost for Class 10 and all practice material stay free.

Which classes does it cover?

For now it covers Maharashtra SSC Class 10. More classes will follow as their content is verified.

Does it work with ChatGPT?

Yes. In ChatGPT, add a custom connector (developer mode) with the server URL https://www.doubtly.in/mcp and OAuth authentication, then sign in to Doubtly and click Allow.
