The SSC board exam is about four months away. Four months is enough to finish the syllabus, revise twice and write every subject's board paper under exam conditions, if you plan it. This guide gives you a month-by-month plan, a daily routine, subject-wise tips and the free Doubtly resources for each step. Follow it as it is, or adjust it to your school's prelim dates.

Exam dates: the Maharashtra Board usually holds the SSC theory exams from late February to March. Always check the official timetable on mahahsscboard.in and your school's notice; this plan assumes the exams start in the last week of February 2027.

The 4-month plan at a glance

MonthGoalWhat to do
NovemberFinish the syllabusComplete the remaining chapters of every subject. After each chapter, solve its textbook exercise and take its chapter test.
DecemberFirst full revisionRevise every chapter with notes and formulas. Write one practice paper per subject in board pattern, then check it against the answers.
JanuaryBoard papers + prelimsWrite the last 3 years' board papers of every subject in exact board time. Use the school prelims as a real rehearsal and list your mistakes.
FebruarySecond revision + weak areasOnly revision: formulas, diagrams, maps, grammar and your mistake list. One timed paper every 2–3 days. Sleep well before the exam.

A daily routine that works

  • School days: 2–3 hours of self-study. One "heavy" subject (Maths or Science) and one "light" subject (a language or Social Science) every day.
  • Holidays and Sundays: write one full board paper in exam time (2 or 3 hours), then check it the same day.
  • Every day, 20 minutes: revise formulas, definitions, dates or grammar rules from a small notebook you keep only for this.
  • Phone rule: keep the phone away during study blocks; use it only to check answers or ask a doubt.

Subject-wise tips

Mathematics (Algebra and Geometry)

  • Practise every textbook problem set and the activity-type questions; the board repeats these styles every year.
  • Write all steps. Marks are given for steps, not just the final answer.
  • Geometry: learn the theorems with proofs and practise constructions with a compass. Neat figures carry marks.
  • Practise: Algebra Practice Paper 1 · Geometry Practice Paper 1

Science and Technology Part 1 and Part 2

  • Learn definitions in the textbook's words, and practise every labelled diagram until you can draw it from memory.
  • Numericals (Part 1): write the formula, substitute with units, then the answer with its unit.
  • "Give scientific reasons" questions: answer in 2–3 clear points.
  • Practise: Science Part 1 Practice Paper · Science Part 2 Practice Paper

Social Science (History & Political Science, Geography)

Languages (Marathi, Hindi, English)

How to use board papers properly

  1. Write the paper in the exact board time, without looking at anything.
  2. Check it yourself against the model answers and give yourself marks honestly.
  3. Write every mistake in your mistake list: the chapter, what went wrong, the correct method.
  4. Before the exam, revise the mistake list more than anything else.

Free Doubtly tools for this plan

  • Board papers and practice papers for every subject, with answers: SSC 10th papers
  • Chapter tests: short timed tests with an instant score, on each chapter page.
  • Solved questions chapter by chapter: Class 10 questions
  • Dost, the AI study buddy: ask it to explain any step you don't understand.
  • Ask a doubt: post any question, even a photo of it, and get it answered.
  • Search: type in English, Marathi or Hinglish, like "marathi paper 2026" or "algebra quadratic".

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Only reading, never writing. The exam is written, so practise writing full answers.
  • Leaving languages for the end. They are scoring subjects; practise them every week.
  • Skipping diagrams and maps. They are quick marks.
  • Studying new topics in the last week. Use the last week only for revision and rest.

Frequently asked questions

How many hours should a Class 10 student study daily?

2–3 focused hours on school days and 5–6 on holidays is enough for most students, if the time is used for writing and solving, not just reading.

When should I start solving board papers?

Start one practice paper per subject in December, and the last 3 years' board papers in January, after the first full revision.

Are previous board papers enough?

They show the pattern and the most important topics, but the textbook exercises come first. Do both: textbook for concepts, board papers for practice.

I study Marathi as a second language. Which paper should I practise?

The Marathi Second/Third Language (अक्षरभारती) paper. It is a different paper from Marathi First Language (कुमारभारती).

Where can I ask a doubt?

Use Ask on Doubtly or ask Dost. Both are free.
