Who can apply
Rules from Reliance Foundation's 2026-27 postgraduate poster:
- Resident Indian citizen.
- First-year, full-time, regular postgraduate student.
- Either a GATE score between 550 and 1,000, or an undergraduate CGPA of 7.5 or above (or a percentage normalised to CGPA).
- Studying one of the selected future-ready courses in engineering, technology, energy or life sciences. The full list of eligible courses is on the Reliance Foundation scholarship website.
A GATE score is not compulsory: a strong undergraduate CGPA is an alternative route. The official poster does not mention an income criterion for the postgraduate scholarship.
Only students in the first year of their postgraduate programme can apply. If you are a final-year undergraduate student planning a master's in 2027, the 2027-28 round is the one to watch: apply after you join the first year of your postgraduate course.

Reliance Foundation says it has awarded more than 33,000 scholarships to date and committed in December 2022 to 50,000 scholarships over 10 years. Besides money, scholars get mentorship, leadership development, networking, interaction with industry experts and a scholar community.
