Between November 2026 and March 2027, Maharashtra students have a full run of government exams: central exams from SSC, the Railways and the banks, and state exams like MPSC Group C and Police Bharti. Some are open after Class 10, some after Class 12 and most after graduation. Several can be written in Marathi. This page puts them on one calendar, with the official website to check for each. It also says clearly where a date is official, where it comes from news reports, and where nothing has been announced yet.

Practise free on Doubtly. Full mocks for the exams coming up first: SSC CHSL Tier-1 Mock 1, SSC CHSL Tier-1 Mock 2, SSC CPO Paper-1 Mock 1, SSC CPO Paper-1 Mock 2, IBPS RRB Prelims Mock 1 and IBPS RRB Prelims Mock 2. Topic tests for arithmetic and reasoning help with most exams on this list.

Which exams can you take? Eligibility by qualification

After Class 10 (SSC)

  • SSC MTS (Multi-Tasking Staff) and Havaldar: peon, attendant and similar Group C posts in central offices. The 2026 notice is still awaited.
  • SSC GD Constable: constable posts in CAPFs (BSF, CRPF, CISF and others), SSF and Assam Rifles. The 2026 cycle had 25,487 posts. The 2027 notice is awaited.
  • RRB Group D (Level-1): track maintainer, helper and similar railway posts. Class 10 or ITI, depending on the post. CEN 09/2025 had 22,195 posts.

If you are still in Class 11 or 12, these are worth knowing about, but most students do better finishing Class 12 first. It opens many more posts.

After Class 12 (HSC)

  • SSC CHSL: Lower Division Clerk, Junior Secretariat Assistant, Data Entry Operator. Tier-I starts 30 November 2026.
  • RRB NTPC (Undergraduate): clerk-typist, accounts clerk, train clerk and similar posts. Applications for the 2026 cycle are open as per news reports.
  • Maharashtra Police Bharti: Police Shipai and related posts. Class 12 is the usual requirement. Height, age and physical standards are in each unit's advertisement.
  • CTET Paper 1: needs Class 12 plus a teacher-training diploma (D.El.Ed or equivalent).
  • All the Class 10 exams above.

After graduation

  • SSC CPO: Sub-Inspector in Delhi Police and CAPFs (physical standards apply).
  • SSC CGL: the 2026 Tier-I runs until 30 October 2026 (SSC notice, 12 September 2026); Tier-II is tentatively planned for December 2026 for qualified candidates.
  • Bank exams: IBPS RRB (Office Assistant and Officer Scale I), IBPS Clerk and SBI Clerk Mains for those who cleared Prelims.
  • RRB NTPC (Graduate): station master, goods train manager, senior clerk and similar posts.
  • MPSC Group C: Clerk-Typist, Tax Assistant, Gram Mahsul Adhikari (Talathi) and other posts. Some technical posts need an engineering diploma or degree.
  • CTET Paper 2: graduation plus B.Ed (or equivalent).
  • All the Class 10 and Class 12 exams above, if you are within the age limit.

Age limits differ for each exam and post, with relaxations for reserved categories. They are printed in each notice. Do not rely on a summary for this: one month of age can make you ineligible.

Which exams can you write in Marathi?

Many students do not know that several central exams offer Marathi.

ExamMarathi available?
MPSC Group CYes. Paper in Marathi and English.
Maharashtra Police BhartiYes. The written test is in Marathi and includes a Marathi grammar section.
SSC CHSL Tier-IYes, for Reasoning, Quant and General Awareness (13 regional languages including Marathi). The English part is in English.
SSC MTS and SSC GDYes, in the 2025/2026 notices (13 regional languages including Marathi), except the English section.
RRB NTPC and RRB Group DYes. RRB papers are offered in English, Hindi and 13 regional languages, including Marathi.
IBPS Clerk, IBPS RRB, SBI ClerkYes for candidates applying in Maharashtra, except the English section. Banks also check proficiency in Marathi, the state's official language, as set out in each notice.
CTETMarathi can be chosen as Language I or II. The rest of the paper is in Hindi and English.
SSC CPO, SSC CGLNo. Hindi and English only.

Choose your medium in the application form. You usually cannot change it later. If your Marathi reading is faster than your English, the Marathi option can save you real time in GK and reasoning.

How the patterns compare

Most of these exams test the same four areas: arithmetic, reasoning, general awareness and a language. So one preparation covers many exams.

Exam (stage)Questions / marks / timeNegative marking
SSC CHSL Tier-I100 Q / 200 M / 60 min (English, Reasoning, Quant, GA: 25 Q each)0.50 per wrong answer
SSC CPO Paper-I (2026)100 Q / 100 M / 60 min (Reasoning, GK, Quant, English: 25 Q each)0.25
RRB NTPC CBT-1 (2025 pattern)100 Q / 90 min (GA 40, Maths 30, Reasoning 30)1/3
RRB Group D (CEN 09/2025)100 Q / 90 min (Science 25, Maths 25, Reasoning 30, GA 20)1/3
IBPS RRB Prelims80 Q / 80 M / 45 min (Reasoning 40, Numerical 40)0.25
CTET (each paper)150 Q / 150 M / 2.5 hNone
MPSC Group C Prelims100 Q / 100 M / 60 min1/4
Police Bharti written100 M / 90 min (Arithmetic, GK, Reasoning, Marathi grammar: 25 each)None stated in the rules

How to plan if you are taking more than one exam

Most students apply for three or four exams. A few rules make this manageable.

  1. Pick a main exam. Choose the one that fits your qualification and the job you actually want. Put 60% of your time there.
  2. Build the common core. Arithmetic and reasoning are in almost every exam. Do one topic test a day all through November to March.
  3. Add the exam-specific part. English for SSC and banks, General Science for RRB, Maharashtra GK and Marathi grammar for MPSC and Police, pedagogy for CTET.
  4. Watch the clashes. December is crowded: SSC CHSL runs through the month, IBPS RRB Office Assistant Prelims is on 6, 12 and 13 December, and CTET is on 12–13 December, the same days as two of the RRB Office Assistant dates. Each body allots your date itself, so if you are taking both, check your admit cards and city slips early.
  5. Practise the right negative marking. SSC CHSL cuts 0.50 per wrong answer, CTET cuts nothing. Your guessing strategy must change with the exam.

A month-by-month outline

  • November: SSC CPO and IBPS RRB Scale I Prelims. CHSL and RRB Office Assistant candidates: take 2 full mocks a week from mid-November.
  • December: CHSL Tier-I, RRB Office Assistant Prelims, CTET, IBPS Clerk Mains. MPSC Group C candidates: keep a daily Maharashtra GK and arithmetic routine going through December.
  • January: MPSC Group C Prelims (3 Jan) and RRB Office Assistant Mains (30 Jan). Watch for SSC GD 2027 and RRB NTPC CBT-1 dates.
  • February–March: Prepare for whatever has been notified by then: GD, NTPC, MTS or the next Police drive. The arithmetic and reasoning you practised still applies.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Applying for everything and preparing for nothing. Pick one main exam.
  • Trusting dates from WhatsApp or YouTube thumbnails. Use ssc.gov.in, ibps.in, the RRB websites, ctet.nic.in, mpsc.gov.in and mahapolice.gov.in.
  • Not checking age and physical standards before applying. The fee is not refunded if you are ineligible.
  • Ignoring the medium option. Marathi is available in more exams than most students think.
  • Skipping full mocks. Knowing topics is not the same as finishing 100 questions in 60 minutes.
