Best answer
Answer: Dr. John Watson is Sherlock Holmes’s loyal friend, assistant and the narrator of the story — kind, brave, practical and honest.
Dr. Watson is a retired army surgeon who was wounded in the Afghan war. He shares rooms with Holmes at 221B Baker Street and records his cases. He is warm-hearted and sensible, and he openly disapproves of Holmes’s cocaine habit out of concern for him. He is brave and dependable, accompanying Holmes into danger. He is also romantic and gentle — he falls in love with Mary Morstan and becomes engaged to her at the end. His admiration for Holmes makes him an ideal narrator.
