Answer: (A) Earthquake, (B) Fire, (C) Snake bite. The precautions are given below.
(A) Earthquake: drop, cover and hold on — take shelter under a strong table or bed and hold it until the shaking stops, or crouch beside a strong interior wall and protect the head and neck with the arms; keep away from windows, glass, cupboards and outer walls; do not use the lift or run on the stairs; after the shaking stops, switch off gas and electricity and go to an open place away from buildings and electric poles.
(B) Fire: raise an alarm and call the fire brigade (101); switch off the main electric supply and gas; cover the nose and mouth with a wet cloth, crawl low under the smoke and leave the building; never use the lift; use a fire extinguisher, sand or a thick blanket on a small fire; if clothes catch fire — stop, drop and roll.
(C) Snake bite: keep the person calm and still, lying down, with the bitten limb kept still below the level of the heart; wash the bite with soap and water; remove rings, bangles and tight clothes; do not cut, suck or apply ice to the wound; take the person immediately to a hospital for anti-snake-venom injection. (Some older guides mention a bandage a little above the bite; it must never be tied tightly.)
