Answer: (Model speech)

Respected Principal, teachers and my dear friends,

Today is World Water Day, and I wish to speak on ‘Save Water, Save Life’. Every living thing — plants, animals and human beings — needs water to live. We drink it, grow our food with it and use it in every industry. Without water there can be no life on the Earth.

Yet many villages and cities face water shortage every summer. Rapid growth of population, cutting of forests, overuse of groundwater, pollution of rivers and simple carelessness, such as leaving taps running, are the main causes.

We can save water in simple ways. Close the tap while brushing your teeth, use a bucket instead of a shower, repair leaking taps at once and reuse the water left after washing vegetables for plants. In school, we can report leaking taps and help to set up rainwater harvesting on the terrace.

Friends, every drop counts. If we save water today, our children will have water tomorrow. Let us take a pledge to use every drop wisely.

Thank you.
