Quadratic Equations: what you will practise
This 10-question test is built on Chapter 2 of SSC Algebra. It starts with spotting which equation is actually quadratic and checking whether a given number is a root of x² - 5x + 6 = 0. It then moves to the discriminant and the nature of roots (real and equal, real and unequal), the sum and product of roots read straight from the coefficients, forming a quadratic equation from its roots 3 and −5, finding an unknown k when one root is given or when the roots are equal, and finally evaluating α² + β² without solving the equation.
Format
There are 10 multiple-choice questions worth 1 mark each, so the test is out of 10. You get 15 minutes. Each question has exactly one correct answer and wrong answers do not cost marks.
Who should take it and how
It suits students who have completed factorisation, the formula method and the relation between roots and coefficients. Use it as a quick self-check before school tests or the prelims. Once you submit, open the explanation of every question; the steps show how b² - 4ac and α + β = -b/a save time. A score under 6 usually means the roots-and-coefficients section needs another round of practice.
