Statistics chapter test: mean, median, mode and pie diagrams
This test covers Chapter 6 of SSC Algebra. It checks whether you know the formulas and can use them on grouped data. You will meet the assumed mean and step deviation methods, the class mark of 10–20, the median formula and what each letter in it stands for, and the mode formula. Two questions give a five-class frequency table and ask for the median class or modal class work. On the graphical side, you need the total of central angles in a pie diagram and the central angle for food when ₹3000 of a ₹12,000 budget is spent on it. One question also asks for the mean from Σfᵢ xᵢ and Σfᵢ.
Format
10 MCQs with one correct option each, 1 mark per question, 15 minutes. No negative marking.
How to use this test
Statistics questions in the board paper are long, so this test is a quick way to check that the formulas are right before you start full sums. Take it after finishing the chapter. When you review, note which formula each explanation uses and the cumulative frequency or class width it picks. If you score below 6, rewrite the four formulas from memory and practise one grouped-data table for each method.
