Circle chapter test: what is inside
Circle is one of the longest chapters in SSC Geometry, and this test covers its main theorems in 10 questions. On tangents, you will answer how many tangents touch a circle at a point, the angle between a tangent and the radius, and the length of a tangent from a point 13 cm from the centre. On touching circles, you will find the distance between centres when circles of radii 5.5 cm and 4.2 cm touch externally. The rest test inscribed angles and intercepted arcs, the angle in a semicircle, opposite angles of a cyclic quadrilateral, the tangent-secant segment theorem, intersecting chords (AE × EB = CE × ED), and the angle between a tangent and a chord.
Format
10 multiple-choice questions, each worth 1 mark, to be done in 15 minutes. Only one option is correct and there is no negative marking.
How to use it
Attempt it after you have learnt all the theorems in the chapter, because the questions jump between them. A quick sketch helps for the secant and chord questions. After submitting, go through each explanation and write down the name of the theorem it uses; this also helps with the written proofs in the board paper. If you score below 6, revise the theorems on tangent segments and cyclic quadrilaterals first.
Solved circle questions are on the SSC Geometry page, and other chapters are on the Class 10 exam hub.
