Dear Rohan,

I hope your studies are going well. I read a newspaper report yesterday about the harm that mobile phones and video games are doing to school children, and I thought at once of you.

You told me on the phone that you play games till midnight. Please stop this habit now. Children who use the phone for hours suffer from weak eyesight, headache, neck pain and lack of sleep, and their marks fall because they cannot concentrate in class. Many of them also lose interest in games and in meeting friends. The phone is a useful tool, but it must remain a tool — not a master.

So keep the phone away after nine at night, play outside for at least an hour every day, and finish your homework before you touch the phone. Ask Mother to keep it with her while you study.
