Views on ‘What men can do, women can do better’

I firmly believe that what men can do, women can do better. It is said that women are weak, but weakness of muscle is not weakness of mind : women bear pain that men can hardly imagine, and they work longer hours than most men. If women are prone to male domination, that is because our society has denied them education and property, not because they lack ability; given equal opportunity, they lead banks, states and space missions. The complaint that women cannot cope with the stress of home and office is an unfair one, for they have been doing both for centuries without complaint; the real answer is to share household work between husband and wife. To say that women are taken for granted and are meant only for household work is an insult to the thousands of women who teach, nurse, farm, fly aircraft and run businesses. Indeed, women show greater patience, honesty and powers of concentration. A nation that keeps half its people in the kitchen can never run at full speed.
