Students Learn Self-Defence and Safety Skills

Nashik, 5th February, 2026 : By our college reporter

A lecture-cum-demonstration on ‘Self Defence and Safety’ was organised by the Women’s Development Cell of K. T. H. M. Junior College in the college auditorium on Wednesday. About 250 students of Std. XII attended.

The programme began at 11 a.m. with a welcome by the Vice-Principal, Mr. R. D. Patil. The expert speaker, Ms. Pooja Shinde, a black-belt karate trainer and a police volunteer, explained that awareness is the first step of safety. She spoke about staying alert in lonely places, sharing live location with family, and using helpline numbers such as 112 and 1091.

She then demonstrated simple techniques to escape a wrist grab, block an attack and use everyday objects like keys and bags for protection. Several students volunteered and practised on stage.

The session ended with a question-answer round and a vote of thanks by student representative Aditi Jadhav. The students found it practical and confidence-building.
