Applied History chapter test

This test covers Chapter 3 of the SSC History syllabus, which explains how history is used today in museums, archives and heritage work. It asks for the other name of Applied History and about the Centre for Public History at the Srishti Institute. It covers the world's earliest known museum at Ur in Mesopotamia, who built it and who excavated it. Indian institutions in the questions include the Indian Museum in Kolkata, the National Archives of India and the National Film Archives of India. The last questions are on heritage: the Kaas plateau, an example of tangible cultural heritage, and an organisation that works on conservation alongside the Archaeological Survey of India.

Format

  • 10 single-correct MCQs
  • 1 mark each, total 10 marks
  • 15 minutes; no negative marking

How to use it

Take it after reading the chapter once and learning the institutions and their locations. The difference between tangible and intangible heritage is a common source of mistakes, so read those options carefully. After submitting, go through every explanation. If you score below 6, list each museum and archive with its city and founding detail, then retake the test.

You will find more questions on the SSC History page, and other chapters on the Maharashtra SSC exam hub.
