Mass Media and History chapter test
This test covers Chapter 5 of the SSC History book, which is about newspapers, radio and television. It begins with the public news boards of Julius Caesar's Rome and moves to India: the first English newspaper, the Bengal Gazette, and its founder, and Balshastri Jambhekar, editor of Darpan, whose birth date is marked as Patrakar Din. It also covers Lokhitvadi's Shatpatre, the first illustration printed in an Indian newspaper, a newspaper that strongly supported widow remarriage, and who started Kesari and Maratha in 1881. The broadcasting questions ask who suggested the name Akashvani and who inaugurated the Delhi Doordarshan centre. The final question is about the forged Hitler diaries, which shows why sources must be checked.
Format

How to use it
Take the test after you have read the chapter and noted each newspaper with its founder and year. After you submit, read all explanations and update your notes. A score under 6 is a sign to revise the newspapers of the social reform period and the history of Akashvani and Doordarshan.
