Tourism and History chapter test
This test covers Chapter 8 of the SSC History syllabus. The first half is about famous travellers: when Yuan Shwang (Hiuen Tsang) came to India, where Benjamin of Tudela was born, the Italian traveller who introduced China to Europe, the 14th-century traveller who never took the same road twice, and what Gerardus Mercator is known for. Then comes the beginning of organised tourism with Thomas Cook's first railway trip. The Maharashtra questions cover the Marathi writer who led hikes to Shivaji Maharaj's forts, the type of tourism a visit to Lonar crater lake is, the year MTDC was set up, and what Bhilar near Mahabaleshwar is known for.
Format
10 MCQs with one correct answer each, 1 mark per question, 15 minutes and no negative marking.
How to use it
Take it after you have read the chapter and can name the main types of tourism with an example of each. The traveller questions are easy to mix up, so make a short timeline before you start. After submitting, read the explanation for every question. If your score is under 6, go over the travellers and the types of tourism again; "explain types of tourism" is a common board question.
The History subject page has more solved questions, and the SSC exam hub lists all tests.
