Effects of Electric Current: test overview
Chapter 4 of SSC Science Part 1 covers both the heating effect and the magnetic effect of current, and this test includes both. On heating, you will find the heat produced when 2 A flows through 10 Ω for 5 s, the property of fuse wire, the SI unit of power, what 1 kWh equals, the bill for a 1000 W iron used for 2 hours a day for 30 days, and the resistance of a bulb rated 100 W, 220 V. On magnetism, the test asks what Fleming's left hand rule gives, which device turns electrical energy into mechanical energy, the principle of the electric generator, and the AC frequency used in India.
Format
- 10 questions, single correct option
- 1 mark each; 10 marks total
- 15 minutes; wrong answers are not penalised
How to use it
Attempt this after you finish the chapter and its numericals. Write the formula (H = I²Rt, P = V²/R) before substituting, and watch the units, especially when converting energy to kWh for the bill. After submitting, compare your steps with each explanation. If you get fewer than 6 right, revise the motor and generator diagrams and the Joule heating formula, then retake the test.
