What the Lenses test covers
This test is built on Chapter 7, Lenses, of SSC Science Part 1. One group of questions is about power of a lens: its SI unit (dioptre), the power of a convex lens of focal length 50 cm, identifying a lens of power −2.5 D, and the combined power of +3 D and −1 D lenses in contact. Another group is about the human eye: the nature of the image on the retina, the near point of a normal eye, persistence of vision, and which lens corrects myopia. The last two use image formation by a convex lens: an object at 2F₁, and the image distance for an object 15 cm from a lens of focal length 10 cm.
Format
10 single-answer MCQs, 1 mark each, 15 minutes. You lose nothing for a wrong answer.
How to use it
Attempt it after you have learnt the sign convention and the lens formula. Convert focal length to metres before finding power; many students lose marks on this step. After submitting, check each explanation and redraw the ray diagram for the convex-lens questions. If you score under 6, revise the defects of vision and the lens formula, then try again.
Further practice is on the Science Part 1 questions page, and the full list of Class 10 tests is on the Maharashtra SSC hub.
