Space Missions chapter test: topics
This test covers Chapter 10, Space Missions, the last chapter of SSC Science Part 1. It includes India's space programme and the physics of satellites. The general-knowledge questions ask for India's first artificial satellite, the city where ISRO has its headquarters, India's first missions to the moon and to Mars, and the launch vehicle used for polar orbits. The physics questions cover escape velocity from the earth, the height and period of a geosynchronous satellite, the formula for the critical velocity of a satellite at height h, and how critical velocity changes as height increases.
Format
- 10 single-correct multiple-choice questions
- 1 mark each; total 10 marks
- 15-minute timer, no negative marking
How to use it
This chapter is short, so the test is a quick check after you have read it once. Learn the mission names and dates in a small table; they are easy marks in both the MCQ and "complete the table" questions. For the formula questions, the explanations show how the critical velocity expression comes from equating gravitational and centripetal force. If you score below 6, revise the types of satellites and their orbits before retaking.
