Heredity and Evolution chapter test
This test covers Chapter 1 of SSC Science and Technology Part 2. Its questions fall into three groups. The theories of evolution group asks who proposed natural selection and who proposed the inheritance of acquired characters. The evidence of evolution group covers vestigial organs in humans, homologous organs (the forelimbs of a human, whale and bat), how the age of fossils is found, and connecting links such as Archaeopteryx, Peripatus and the duck-billed platypus. The molecular group asks what transcription is and how many nucleotides make up a codon on mRNA.
Format
10 multiple-choice questions, 1 mark each, 15 minutes. One option is correct and there is no negative marking.
How to use it
Take it after you finish the chapter. Connecting links and scientist names are easy to confuse, so make a two-column list (example and what it links) before attempting. After submitting, read every explanation, including those for questions you got right, to make sure you were not guessing. If you score below 6, re-read the evidence of evolution section and the steps of protein synthesis.
There are more solved biology questions on the Science Part 2 subject page, and all tests are listed on the Maharashtra SSC exam hub.
