Science & Technology Part 2 10 questions

Towards Green Energy: test overview

This test covers Chapter 5 of Science and Technology Part 2, which compares ways of generating electricity. It asks about the energy conversion in a solar cell and the material solar cells are made from, the form of energy stored water has in a hydroelectric plant, and the order of energy changes in a coal-based thermal power plant. You will also identify the process used in nuclear power plants, the main gas in natural gas and in biogas, which source is renewable, which is not green energy, and which plant produces fly ash.

Format

10 MCQs, 1 mark each, 15 minutes. One correct answer per question, no negative marking.

How to use it

Take the test after you have studied how each type of power plant works. For energy-conversion questions, trace the chain step by step from fuel to electricity before looking at the options. After you submit, read the explanations, which also mention the pollution problems of each plant; the board often asks about these. If you score below 6, draw a simple flow diagram for thermal, hydro, nuclear, wind and solar plants and retake the test.
