Human Settlements chapter test
This test covers Chapter 7 of SSC Geography. The India questions ask where nucleated and dispersed settlements are found, the level of urbanisation in 2011, the most urbanised state, and the modern name of Pratishthan, an old urban settlement. The Brazil questions cover the share of Brazilians living in cities today and in an earlier year from the textbook table, the government policy to reduce regional imbalance, which rivers meet at Manaus, and the crop grown in the rich soil around Sao Paulo.
Format
10 MCQs with one correct answer, 1 mark each, 15 minutes and no negative marking.
How to use it
Take the test after reading the chapter and reviewing its settlement maps and urbanisation table. For the settlement-pattern questions, think about the physical conditions (water, relief, soil) that would cause that pattern. The explanations after you submit give these reasons, which help with "settlements are sparse in north-eastern Brazil" type questions. If you score below 6, revise the factors affecting settlements and the urbanisation data.
