Tourism, Transport and Communication chapter test

This test covers Chapter 9, the last chapter of SSC Geography. The first group of questions is about time zones: the longitude used for Indian Standard Time, how far IST is ahead of GMT, how many time zones Brazil has, how Official Brazilian Time is set, and the time difference across mainland Brazil. The transport questions cover the length of the Amazon waterway, the share of India's passenger traffic carried by road, the share of foreign trade carried by sea, and Brazil's most common means of transport. The last question asks which body runs Brazil's space programme.

Format

10 multiple-choice questions, 1 mark each, 15 minutes. One correct option each, and no negative marking.

How to use it

Take the test after studying the chapter and its maps of transport routes. Work out the time-zone questions on paper using longitude differences instead of guessing. After submitting, read the explanations. If you score below 6, revise the time-zone calculations and the reasons why waterways are underdeveloped in Brazil, a common "give reasons" board question.

More solved questions are on the SSC Geography page, and all tests are on the Maharashtra SSC exam hub.
