About this SSC Algebra practice paper

This is an original Doubtly practice paper for Maharashtra SSC (Class 10) Mathematics Part 1 (Algebra). It is written in the board pattern, but it is not an official Maharashtra State Board paper. Every question is new and comes with a full worked solution.

Paper pattern

The paper carries 40 marks and is meant to be written in 2 hours, like the board exam. Q.1 has four MCQs and four one-mark questions; Q.2 has activities to complete (any two) and short sums (any four); Q.3 has one activity out of two and two 3-mark sums out of three; Q.4 has two 4-mark sums out of three; and Q.5 has one 3-mark application question out of two. All six chapters are covered: Linear Equations in Two Variables, Quadratic Equations, Arithmetic Progression, Financial Planning, Probability and Statistics.

How to use it

Set a timer for two hours, attempt the paper without looking at the solutions, then check your answers. For activities, write the full completed steps, not just the missing values.

FAQs

Is this the actual board paper?

No. It is a Doubtly practice paper that follows the board's question pattern and marking scheme.

Can I use a calculator?

No. Calculators are not allowed in the SSC Algebra exam, so practise the arithmetic by hand.

Which chapters should I revise first?

Linear equations, quadratic equations and A.P. carry many marks; also practise GST and share calculations and the median and mode formulas.

Q.2 (A) Complete and write any two activities (4 marks)

  1. Q.2 (A)(i) Complete the following activity to solve the simultaneous equations by Cramer's rule :

    \[ 2x + 3y = 12 \]

    \[ x - y = 1 \]

    Solution :

    \(D = \begin{vmatrix} 2 & 3 \\ 1 & -1 \end{vmatrix} = (2 \times -1) - (3 \times 1) =\) ____
    \(D_x = \begin{vmatrix} \text{____} & 3 \\ 1 & -1 \end{vmatrix} = -12 - 3 = -15\)
    \(D_y = \begin{vmatrix} 2 & 12 \\ 1 & \text{____} \end{vmatrix} = 2 - 12 = -10\)
