March 2025 Social Science Paper II: Geography

This is the Maharashtra SSC Geography paper (Social Sciences Paper II) from March 2025, English medium, paper code N 869. It is a 2-hour paper for 40 marks. In the exam, students mark places on an outline map of Brazil and draw a graph on the graph paper provided. The map-marking part, Q.4(A), is not included here; the map-reading part, Q.4(B), is described in words.

The paper follows the India-Brazil comparison throughout. It has complete-the-sentence items on government, the Himalayas as a barrier to winds, Brazil's economy and its rank by area, and odd-one-out sets on field visit materials, rivers, primary activities and settlement factors. There are right-or-wrong statements on India's young population, seasons, Manaus, sex ratio and tigers and lions. The paper also has geographical reasons (perennial Himalayan rivers, rare cyclones in Brazil, sparse north-eastern settlements, undeveloped waterways), a bar graph or pie-chart question, and longer answers on field visits, problems after independence and environmental issues.

How to use it

Attempt it on paper in 2 hours, drawing the graph by hand. Then check each answer against the model answers, especially the "give reasons" ones, which need clear cause-and-effect points. Use the Geography full subject test and the Geography questions page to fix weak chapters.
