Revising a whole maths book at once is hard to measure. Revising one chapter and then testing it for 15 minutes gives you a clear answer: you either know it or you do not. Doubtly has free chapter-wise tests for every chapter of the Maharashtra SSC Class 10 Algebra and Geometry textbooks. This guide lists them, says what to revise before each one, and explains how to use your score.

How the chapter tests work

  • 10 multiple-choice questions from one chapter.
  • 15 minutes.
  • No negative marking.
  • Every question has the correct answer and a short explanation after you submit.

Keep a rough notebook beside you and work out each question on paper, without a calculator. That keeps the practice close to the board exam, where calculators are not allowed.

Algebra chapter-wise tests

Chapter 1: Linear Equations in Two Variables

Revise the elimination and substitution methods, the graphical method, determinants, and Cramer's rule. Know how to evaluate a 2 by 2 determinant without hesitation, and how to convert word problems into a pair of equations. Take the Linear Equations in Two Variables chapter test.

Chapter 2: Quadratic Equations

Revise identifying a quadratic equation, solving by factorisation, completing the square and the formula, the discriminant and the nature of roots, and the relation between roots and coefficients. Take the Quadratic Equations chapter test.

Chapter 3: Arithmetic Progression

Revise the common difference, the nth term formula, the sum of the first n terms, and word problems on savings or instalments. Take the Arithmetic Progression chapter test.

Chapter 4: Financial Planning

Revise GST (input tax credit and tax invoices) and shares, mutual funds and brokerage. These questions involve percentages over several steps, so practise the arithmetic carefully. Take the Financial Planning chapter test.

Chapter 5: Probability

Revise random experiments, sample spaces, events and the probability formula. Write out the sample space for coins, dice and cards before counting. Take the Probability chapter test.

Chapter 6: Statistics

Revise mean, median and mode of grouped data and the different methods for the mean, plus histograms, frequency polygons and pie diagrams. Take the Statistics chapter test.

When all six are done, take the Algebra full subject test (25 questions, 40 minutes) and then write the March 2025 Algebra board paper.

Geometry chapter-wise tests

Chapter 1: Similarity

Revise the ratio of areas of triangles, the basic proportionality theorem and its converse, the angle bisector property, the tests of similarity, and the theorem on areas of similar triangles. Take the Similarity chapter test.

Chapter 2: Pythagoras Theorem

Revise Pythagorean triplets, the theorem of geometric mean, the Pythagoras theorem and its converse, and Apollonius theorem. Take the Pythagoras Theorem chapter test.

Chapter 3: Circle

Revise tangent properties, touching circles, inscribed angles and arcs, cyclic quadrilaterals, and the theorems on intersecting chords and secants. This chapter has many theorems, so practise the proofs with figures. Take the Circle chapter test.

Chapter 4: Geometric Constructions

Revise constructing a triangle similar to a given triangle and constructing tangents to a circle. The chapter test checks the steps and ideas behind these constructions; you still need to practise drawing them with compass and ruler. Take the Geometric Constructions chapter test.

Chapter 5: Co-ordinate Geometry

Revise the distance formula, the section formula, the midpoint and centroid formulas, and slope. Take the Co-ordinate Geometry chapter test.

Chapter 6: Trigonometry

Revise the trigonometric ratios, the values for standard angles, the identities, and problems on heights and distances with angles of elevation and depression. Take the Trigonometry chapter test.

Chapter 7: Mensuration

Revise surface area and volume of cones, spheres, hemispheres and frustums, conversion of one solid into another, and the length of an arc and the area of a sector and segment. Take the Mensuration chapter test.

Then take the Geometry full subject test and write the March 2025 Geometry board paper.

Reading your chapter test score

Score out of 10What it usually meansWhat to do
9 to 10Concepts are secureMove on; come back in the full subject test
7 to 8Mostly fine, a few gapsRead the explanations for wrong answers and solve two textbook problems on each gap
Below 7The chapter needs revisionRe-read the chapter, solve the practice sets, and retake the test after a few days

These bands are a practical guide, not an official rule. If you are signed in, the syllabus tracker uses your test scores to mark weak chapters, so your revision list builds itself as you go.

From MCQ practice to board answers

Chapter tests check concepts. The board paper asks you to show working. After a chapter test, pick a few textbook exercise questions from the same chapter and solve them fully on paper. You can compare your working with the solutions in the Algebra and Geometry question banks.

For Geometry, practise writing at least one theorem proof per chapter in the board format: figure, given, to prove, construction where needed, and proof with reasons.

Common mistakes with chapter tests

  • Guessing quickly without working on paper. You lose the practice the test is meant to give.
  • Retaking the same test straight away. Wait a few days so you are testing memory, not short-term recall.
  • Skipping chapters that "always come". Every chapter can appear, and internal choice will not always save you.
  • Ignoring right answers that were guesses. Read those explanations too.

FAQ

How many maths chapter tests are there?

Thirteen: six for Algebra and seven for Geometry, one for each textbook chapter.

Are there chapter-wise tests for Science too?

Yes. There are ten chapter tests each for Science and Technology Part 1 and Part 2. See the full list on the SSC 10th exam page.

Do chapter tests follow the board paper pattern?

No. They are MCQ tests to check concepts quickly. For the board pattern, use the March 2025 papers linked above.

Can I take a chapter test more than once?

Yes. Retake it after you revise the chapter again and compare your score.
